Worse For Wear !

Boom Concepts, one of Pittsburgh’s most established and influential gallery spaces, is pleased to present one of Pittsburgh’s up and coming artists, Stew Frick, for the September installment of their “Unblurred” series.  Premiering on September 6th, Stew’s show “Worse for Wear” will explore the artist’s relationship with psychotic depression and the recovery thereof, represented through the conduit of painted clothing. This is Stew’s first solo gallery show, and will feature many of the synesthesia-inspired clothing patterns emblematic of their style, combined with autobiographical writing and hallucinatory paintings. Stew Frick has established themselves as an up-and-comer within the Pittsburgh art scene over the last year, most notably through collaborations with local musicians such as Benji and Inez, as well as working with the art collective Wicked PGH.  In addition, Stew has held numerous pop up shops and vending positions within local stores such as Social Status and Three Pigs Collective. Within their show, Stew will be presenting hand-painted clothing and canvases ranging from synesthetic visions of their closest friend’s voices, to vivid representations of their psychotic hallucinations, to short written pieces telling the story of an internal war of the mind, how it was overcome, and how it can irrevocably change one’s experience of the world thereafter.
