Styling By Chi has interviewed and featured incredible talent over the years, but who we’re about to introduce has really brought us to tears with his inspiring message and movement. Joshua Santiago, is a Barber based out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Joshua, is the Founder of “Empowering Cuts”, a non-profit organization that travels the country to provide free haircuts to the homeless; military vets, and families who may be experiencing tough times. Incredible right?! Growing up, Joshua didn’t have the luxury of getting a hair cut, he had a tough upbringing that didn’t leave much room for such luxuries. As an adult, Joshua enrolled in barber school, which would later be the decision that would change his life, and the lives of thousands. As a way to build on his skills and do some community service, Joshua’s barber instructor would take his entire class to shelters, offering free haircuts. This is how Joshua learned how to cut hair professionally and learned about his purpose. Joshua found that being able to bless someone with his skill meant so much more than receiving money. Over the last four years, Joshua’s nonprofit organization “Empowering Cuts” has worked with over fifty organizations in over twenty cities, grooming over seven thousand five hundred men, women, and children! Within the next five years, Joshua plans on owning his own recovery homes, and homeless shelters to help change and save more lives. We are speechless, it’s so touching to see all of the life changing things Joshua has done. What makes what he does ten times better, is knowing it’s all from the heart. We are truly blessed and humbled to be able to cover someone like Joshua, we seriously need more like him. We know that Joshua is going to continue to do great things in the lives of others.
