“If you’re a young artist, wondering what to call yourself, consider “multimedia artist”. Then no one can say, “hey how come you’re a jazz person, and you’re making a pop opera?” - Laurie Anderson. If you’re searching for the limitations that can be placed on Black women, you’ll be searching forever. Black women are incredible, and not for their strength, resilience, or servitude, but for their commitment to blessing us with beautiful art and historic change. I try to spend my time on social media with intentionality, but I must admit I get carried away like everyone else on meme pages. However, during one of the moments I was being intentional during my screen time, I came across the incredible Jordan Gooden. Jordan is one of those creatives that I like to call a “renaissance creatives”. Jordan’s passion for what she does and her innovative spirit can and will have her being the Black woman our little Black girls want to be like when they grow older. So the next time you think about limitations, I’m sure you’ll stop yourself in your tracks and think of “possibility”. Thank you Jordan, for being you and doing it well. I am so proud of you, and you will always have my love and support.
