“Unforgivingly, and forcefully magnificent...” - Maquita Donyel Irvin. The Black woman is incredible, she is bold; an icon, and a revolutionary. There are so many Black women who are doing incredible things through their mere existence and artistry, and today I will proudly introduce you to one. Shayne Coles is a Multi-Talented Artist based in Pittsburgh, PA, who is simply iconic. Shayne’s artistry is both breathtaking and inspiring. It is women like Shayne Coles that inspire me to be better, inspire, and spark change through my artistic gifts. I believe it is our duty as artists in our desired mediums to teach and help others do the same. To say I am inspired by Shayne would be an understatement, but to say I am proud would be fitting. It feels good as a Black woman, to see another Black woman representing us in such a beautiful way! Shayne deserves her flowers now, not tomorrow, or three years from now. Thank you Shayne for all you do, and all you are. Thank you for representing me. Thank you for seeing and celebrating me. Most importantly thank you for reminding me that I matter. Black girls are many things, but one thing for certain is they are absolute. They are capable of it all, and then some.
