We, humans, have spent copious amounts of time searching for the artist that “understood”. It is easy to forget the value of art when you’re surrounded by the qualms of everyday life. It is the art that keeps us motivated, encouraged, and hopeful. Hopeful for a better life and better world. What about the artists? Great question, it takes courage to create something new in spaces engulfed in lackluster. A world without artists would be a world at a standstill. Who would capture and tell the stories of our highest highs and lowest lows? To be an artist is to bear the weight of the world on your shoulders, while gracefully telling those who inquire why you chose to do so. When we hear the word “inspiration” used to describe a person, we immediately think that person sparked a drastic change in someone’s life. When I hear the word “inspiration”, I think of someone who reminded me it’s okay to believe and add my strokes to an already “covered” canvas. It’s easy to be discouraged by the “swarm” of artists in the world but an inspirational person reminds you that the world needs your stroke of paint along with the other millions. I have searched high and low for the artist I will introduce you to today. Quinn Kirby, the Pittsburgh-based Photographer, is the artist we’ve always needed. Quinn’s artwork brings out the best in your imagination while bringing out the best in you as a person. To be an artist is to be a dreamer, to be art is to be a reminder that the world needs you. Artist Quinn is a reminder to myself and countless others that the world requires us and our gifts. I believe every artist wants their work to outlive them, but who Quinn is will surpass that. Thank you, Quinn, I am grateful that I came across you when I did, you are amazing on many levels.
