Jessica Wu
“If you were to look back at me as a school kid, you’d see a very quiet little church mouse kind of character.” - John Lydon. When you’re quiet you have so much time to observe, in fact too much time. I was the quiet kid who loved to observe and critique, the only issue with that was I was busy critiquing myself. Constantly downing myself for not being like everyone else. I didn’t dress like everyone else, speak the way my peers spoke, or dress like them. I was the kid who stuck out like a sore thumb. When you “stick out” you tirelessly hope to “fit”, but my perspective changed once I met this woman. All I needed was kindness and understanding, and somehow she knew to provide me with that without even knowing me. I couldn’t believe it, “This stylish and popular lady is kind to me? Why me?” But this thought process quickly changed when she made me feel like “Why not me?”. She showed me how special I was during a time I didn’t know I had any specialties. I thought humans met angels when they were long gone, but I met one at thirteen. Ladies and gents, I proudly introduce you to the astonishing Jessica Wu. I could spend hours raving about this woman. Jessica is the kind of person to make you feel like one of the coolest people to ever grace this earth. She has this exuberant spirit of love, acceptance, and encouragement and I’m so grateful to have experienced it. If it weren’t for me meeting Jessica at the tender age of 13, I don’t know who I’d be today. Thank you Jessica for seeing me, and treating me like your little sister, you were the big sister I always needed and wanted. I love and appreciate you, and I hope to cross your path again.
