Getting To Know: Ginga Soul

“When you live each day with intentionality, there’s almost no limit to what you can do. You can transform yourself, your family, your community, and your nation.” - John C. Maxwell. Intentionality is the foundation for the artist of the past, present, and future. There is a longing every human being has to create works that reflect the true meaning of this state of being. I believe it takes courage, grit, and humility to allow your spirit to create artistry that it may not know at the moment it needs. Typically when I think of intentionality I think of visual artists, music artists, poets, and dancers, but today I thought of someone special. Neo Soul Artist & Light, Ginga Soul is the embodiment of intentionality, purpose, and surrenderance. Ginga's sound, spirit, and personality are ones everyone should experience. Anyone who is given the honor of experiencing her will leave feeling encouraged, lighthearted, and worthy. Styling By Chi was given the privilege of sitting down with Ginga for a candid conversation. Below you will find her insightful answers to our thought-provoking conversation.

Who are you?

I am Ginga Soul. I'm a Neo Soul Artist, Person, & Creative.

Who inspired you to make music?

I cannot say anyone in particular, inspired me to make music, but I will say my earliest memory with music was singing for my kindergarten class.

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

I would describe the music I create as intentional, authentic, and genuine.

Your music is calming, sultry, and somatic. That seems to be a common theme in everything you make, why do you think that is?

I want my music to be relatable, and speak to a place of vulnerability and honesty. This way every listener can see themselves, and their stories through my music.

“On My Mind” … ironically after listening to this project, it frees your mind. What inspired this project?

The state of processing itself "inspired" this project. It takes me time to process things that I write about. This EP initially started as compilations of songs I wrote, and later found its way to a body of art.

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

I would love to see Neo Soul Artists given more credit and love for the sound they create and trailblaze.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

I would love to collaborate with Anime!

What is one message would you give to your fans?

Your dreams are worth going after, so you should always put in the work. Your emotions are temporary, but what you do with those emotions counts in the end. No one can tell you how to live your life, because they don't know the plans for your life.

What artists do you think we the readers should be privy to?

Innu, and Akira Raee

What’s next for Ginga Soul?

I plan on releasing another project, and performing at my first festival this year!

Ginga wanted to extend a special thank you to her friend, and guide along her journey, Courtney. Courtney has helped Ginga with ideas, song selections, social media management, and so much more.

Ginga thank you for much for sharing your time, energy, and spirit. You are a radiating light, and it was truly an honor to be in your presence.
