DAUGHTER: Ebonee Davis
"Where do you go when you need to release?" A question I often ask while in deep pursuit of the answers. I find the tissues to wipe my tears in the words of incredible writers, the hearts of angel-like friends and family, and the fashions I drape myself in. While my day-to-day is in the fashion industry, writing and the art of words have had my heart since a little girl. This book is both raconteuring and coruscating. In the boundless emotions I experience on a daily, I still at times struggle to express them in the best of ways. Fashion styling is my heart, and writing is my spirit, so reading words from a woman who looks like me and understands that experience is and will always be enough to bring me to tears. This book brings sensory to an experience that would otherwise be considered mundane in the eyes of those who will never nor desire to feel it. Ebonee has a beautiful way of humanizing her readers while loving them and cheering them on. This book was necessary, it's what I'd like to call a shift in the matrix for those who've been waiting for the nudge to walk in their truest of selves. Ebonee Davis, you are such a beautiful human being, and I thank you on behalf of the little girl in me, the fashion lover in me, the black woman in me, and the human being in me who's trying to find her way.
