A true artist bears the weight of uprightness and nuance, the courage to juggle these two is perplexing for a multitude of reasons. We live in a time where silence is synonymous with noise, and having a voice is considered taboo. I was recently given the privilege of encountering an artists' artist at my sisters' solo exhibition, who gave me the wake up call I needed. I am always on a quest for a new perspective, and I usually find it when I'm not looking for it. Life has a purposeful sense of humor I must admit. Nonetheless, this artist was ahead of their time, but right on time with what they've created, experienced, and witnessed. I was inspired, and for the first time in a long time, I was at ease during conversation in a public setting. (My readers with social anxiety know what I'm talking about haha). Ladies, gents, and others, I proudly introduce you to Multifaceted Artist, Mixed Media Artist, & Photographer, Gavin Benjamin. Gavin's presence is an art within itself, but Gavin's art is an experience that should be studied and praised. Mediocrity has become a normality, and dexterity has become that annoying ex. It is refreshing to come across an artist who wears the role of one with honor, and challenges every artist they come across to strive for greatness as a result.
