With new perspective, I had to learn to live for and love myself,
Understand now, what was conducive for healing,
And that if I wanted a better life, it was up to me,
No longer could I subdue or neglect my feelings,
Nor convince myself I could love you
into loving me, when I needed to tend to my wounds,
Cause I found loss already inside me too,
From spending years of my life caught in blues.
Control, with new power, I had to learn to let go of things,
Learn what nurtured my essence,
And provided me with sustainability.
Begin rooting within myself,
Acknowledging what I need,
Honoring my spirit and life’s possibilities.
Control-
Only then, could it show me how life was meant to be.
