As a fashion stylist, I see constant comparison with influencers and photos that are not real, and do not portray reality all of the time.
You are the best reference for yourself and I can prove it.
1.) Research On Your Wardrobe
Look for the pieces you wear the most in your wardrobe and list their characteristics, write about why they are your favorites.
Example: “I have a lot of jeans because they are comfortable and versatile.”
2.) Compare With Your References
Cross the information on your parts with the characteristics you find in your study of the reference folders and see if they are connected.
You need to understand the common points and use those words as a guide to your outfits.
Example: comfy, chic, sexy.
3.) Take Everything Out And Separate Into Piles
The next step is about taking everything out of your closet and using your words to separate into specific piles: donation, repair and keeps.
You need to study each item to see if it fits the characteristics on your list, and if it doesn’t. . donation pile.
4.) Styling Step
That's the fun part. Time to test combinations, no matter how different they may seem. Don't be shy about testing everything you can at this stage.
Have your styling references and looks you like on hand.
It's important to take photos so you can use your own pieces, with your own styling as references in the future.
5.) Your Own Outfit Folder
Gather these photos in a folder on Pinterest, your phone or Google Drive, and whenever you run out of ideas as it pertains to dressing, use your own references to base yourself on.
