Girls Running Shit !
“I wouldn’t be here without the black women around me.” - Misty Copeland. There are so many women, black women in particular, who have helped me get to where I am. Women who’ve believed in me, supported me, prayed for me when they had no idea my thoughts wanted to get the best of me. I believe life is individual but your growth and success is a collective. That leads me to these iconic, powerhouse names ; Markeea Hart, Janita Kilgore, and Mia Marshall. Put these three queens together and you have “Girls Running Shit”!! Now I know the name alone is an attention grabber but trust me when I say their content is a life changer. Girls Running Shit is a safe space that not only supports local black creatives but promotes mental health within the black community which is AMAZING. Girls Running Shit was my first ever podcast interview. I remember being so nervous when I met them and they all embraced me like family. They have the spirit of a black grandmother watching you at a talent show who yells out “Take Your Time Baby!” Now while Girls Running Shit is amazing, it is an organization. The organisms are God sent to say the least. Markeea Hart is like the big sister any girl would be lucky to have. She’s gentle, loving, and will put you in place if you’re not living up to your potential! Janita Kilgore is such a calm and kind spirit who will put the world on her back just so you don’t feel the pains of it. Mia Marshall is an ICON do you hear me?! She is the founder of Luxurae Hair and is an AMAZING hairstylist ! Seriously book her, you won’t regret it. Mia is such a kind, strong, hilarious, and determined woman who is making waves! I am blessed to have all of these women in my life, they couldn’t have come at a greater time. I pray God continues to bless them all so they may continue to be a blessing to others.
