Tenneille Johnson
“The Black woman is art; a perfect expression of pain, struggle, strength, and beauty.” - Unknown. I admire modeling because it is such an amazing art form. To be able to tell a story through a pose, good posture, and clothing, is absolutely amazing to me. There are many models, but few are able to embody those skills in their work, leading me to the one and only Tenneille Johnson. I am a huge fan of Tenneille’s artistry and mere determination to be the best she can with and through her gift. I was blessed with the opportunity to ask Tenneille a few questions about her journey so I hope you enjoy. When asked how she got into modeling, Tenneille replied, “I got into modeling in my freshman year in college in late 2015. I was in class and I felt like the the professors and school itself wasn’t doing anything for me. I knew I wanted more but I didn’t know how to do it. I said I wanted to get into modeling when I was In high-school but had very low self esteem so I never pursued it because at that time and didn’t know how.” Tenneille’s response alone inspired me, but it doesn’t end there, I then asked Tenneille who and what inspires her and she replied, “Nina Simone, Maya Angelou, and Sister Soulja. Strong, vocal, powerful, and inspirational women who moved and touched the world with music, poetry, and words. I hope to be able to do that to people and become memorable in many ways.” Powerful to say the least, Tenneille’s choice of inspiration explains how her gift seems so effortless, she is inspired by some iconic women. My last, and favorite question I asked Tenneille was, what does she plan on doing with her talents and she replied, “I plan on shifting the culture a bit. I believe that I can change the world with my art. It’s gonna happen one day. I do poetry, modeling, writing, and I design sneakers. I plan on one day getting into film and maybe some acting who knows what the future holds.” Inspired yet, because I am! Tenneille you’re amazing and I pray God continues to bless you and your journey so you can continue to be a blessing to others. For all things Tenneille be sure to keep on scrolling!
