Melissa Sade is a multi-talented fashion and jewelry designer who is reshaping the very seam and metal cast of the fashion and jewelry design industry. Melissa Sade is the CEO of “Melissa Sade’s Designs” a fashion and jewelry empire that is making every fashion and jewlery lovers life easier. Who are you?
My name is Melissa and I am a fashion and jewelry designer who has plans to accomplish the impossible.
Why did you choose fashion design as a career? …
I didn't choose fashion, whenever you have a passion for something, the craft itself comes to you not the other way around.
What according to you is your favorite part of being a fashion designer? …
My favorite part about being a fashion designer is being able to tell my story through my garments. The garment shows all of the emotions I have endured, whether it was happiness, anger, or sadness. I believe it's all about details and expression, and because I get to express who I am through design, you receive the story.
The designs you’ve created are nothing short of brilliant, but who and which things were your inspiration while creating such designs? …
My inspiration for my designs came from women, film, and television. One woman in particular I looked up to was the iconic Diana Ross, from the show Mahogany. I will never forget the first time I watched that movie and witnessed the designer who took chances, made mistakes, and stayed rooted in her identity and passion.
Define fashion? …
Fashion is art, there are so many ways to express yourself with fashion, it's hard to choose which path to take, but whatever path you choose, make sure you choose the one that allows you to express yourself the best.
What made you decide to start your brand?
I started my brand because I owed it to myself to finish what I started when I was eighteen years old. Melissa Sade's Designs is more than pretty dresses and jewelry, Melissa Sade's Designs is beginning of the rest of my life.
What do you want readers to know about you apart from design?
I want the readers to know I am a perfectly imperfect person who doesn't have problems showing her flaws. I want the readers to know that I am someone who is ambitious and determined to make her dreams come true.
What’s next for you?
I am hosting my first fashion show in July with the fabulous hair stylist and business owner Joan Blakeman.
