“I'm listening to what I needed to hear from myself.” - Paulo Coelho. If only we knew the power of our voice, we’d amplify it. While that statement is true it is coated in nuance. Many of us need to encounter someone who knows and chooses to share their voice to help us affirm our own. I consider myself an individual with many words and few sentences. "I’m not sure how to word it" is something I often say to myself, so I find the conjunctions through the writers penning a soul-filled generation. Fanta Ballo is one of those writers, individuals, and safe spaces. I recently finished “For All The Things I Never Got To Say” by the Harlem Bred Power House; Poet, Writer, Activist, and Generational Curse Breaker, and I cannot say I am the same woman I was prior. Fanta’s words are enlightening, affirming, and thought-provoking for those along the journey of self-discovery, actualization, and realization. As I read the harsh truths of the world that Fanta touched base on, I couldn’t help but feel an undertone of relief knowing that this generation will be graced with Fanta’s work, presence, and spirit. Fanta, you are amazing, a true blessing and I pray that you see blessings in abundance. The sky isn’t your limit, it’s your launch pad!
