Pageant Queen

Pageant Queen

Tara Fay Coleman, mother, curator, artist, writer, arts worker, and witness is always on time, remaining open to express and expound upon the legacy of conceptual art. One of the many things I admire about Tara is her commitment to challenging the perspectives of “artist lovers” by “critiquing identity, politics, colorism, and the commodification of racial representation.” - Bottom.Feeder.Books

This time around Tara is inspired by Lorraine O’Grady’s Mlle Bourgeoise Noire Performance. This performance “challenges viewers to confront the commodification of Black identity, particularly in the art world. Her white gloves symbolize both luxury and servitude, highlighting the complexities of race and class.” - Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.

From Friday, January 4th, to Saturday, January 25th, at Bottom Feeder Books, you can undergo the otherworldly works entitled “Pageant Queen” fastidiously curated by the one and only Tara Fay Coleman.

Tara, thank you for showing up and sharing with those willing to be enlightened, you are highly appreciated.
